The Kaluga-based plant Electroshield-K° (a member of the NEC Group) has delivered current transformers to the Sheksna Hydroelectric Power Station (HPP) – the only hydropower generation facility in the Vologda energy system and a critical component of the Volga–Baltic Waterway.
The Sheksna HPP is located on the Sheksna River in the Vologda Oblast and features a unique engineering design: the power station building is integrated with a surface spillway structure. Moreover, it is one of only two hydroelectric plants in Russia equipped with horizontal capsule-type hydro units. The facility is operated by the Sheksna District of Hydraulic Structures and Navigation, a branch of the Federal Budgetary Institution “Administration of the Volga–Baltic Basin of Inland Waterways”.
Under the project, Electroshield-K° supplied TLO-10 type current transformers for use in metal-enclosed switchgear (MV switchgear / KRU). The equipment is designed to transmit measured current signals to metering instruments, as well as to protection and control systems, while simultaneously providing electrical isolation of the low-voltage secondary circuits from high-voltage primary systems.
The delivered solutions have been integrated into the station’s electrical infrastructure to enhance measurement accuracy, improve stability of protection systems, and increase the overall reliability of equipment operation.
